Hair Extension Methods > Fusion Loose strands are bonded to the natural hair, near the scalp, using a special bonding material. The newest material is keratin polymer, which offers more flexibility than hot glue, and results in more natural feeling hair. Mainly used on Caucasian hair, the fusion technique creates a natural look and should be indistinguishable from your own hair. When properly applied and maintained, the attachment site will be virtually invisible and should last 3 - 6 months. Fusion hair extensions are more costly than other extension methods, but if you want long-lasting, natural-looking luscious hair, this just might be the extension method for you. It is important to let your hairstylist remove the extensions, consistent with the hair extension system instructions utilized. > Bonding or Gluing This method uses track or weft hair extensions that are applied with a special type of hair glue. The bonding is applied sparingly on the tracks and is placed near the scalp. The glue often feels unnatural and hard. It is important for your hair stylist to apply and remove the glue according to the hair extension system instructions utilized. > Weaving or Sewing The natural hair must first have a "track" through which the hair extensions are then woven or sewn in. One method of building a track is to cornrow the natural hair. The hair extensions are then woven through the tracks using a special tool. Bulk or weft hair can be used for this method. > Braiding The hair extension is braided onto your own natural hair using various braiding techniques. Bulk hair is used for this method. > Clip-In This is a quick fix technique that does not require a lot of time or effort. Special snap clips are sewn to the weft of the hair extension and then clipped into the hair. This can be easily removed and later reused.
